Yes, you read that right. My blog is moving to a new domain. In the future you can find it at https://brayd.blog!
I decided to "relaunch" my blog on the new domain. There are several reasons for this decision:
- Separation: My current blog here is hosted directly on https://braydmedia.de. Braydmedia is usually the name I use for the services I host as a hobby. For example my Mastodon instance is called Braydmedia Glitch. I don't think running my "personal" blog on the root domain that my services are using can be a bit confusing. That's why my new blog will be at https://brayd.blog. This implies, that it is my personal blog as it is using a more personal domain.
- Simplicity: This blog here is running on a software called Ghost. While this software is awesome because it gives me newsletters and so on, this setup is also more complex. It also costs money to be able to send the newsletter etc. I believe a blog should be a simple website that is good readable, fast and simple. That's what my new blog is. It consists out of static sites and is fast because of that. It doesn't have newsletters or fancy features. It is a blog. It has a RSS feed though. So if you use a RSS reader, you still won't miss out any new posts there. Just add the URL of the RSS feed to your favorite RSS reader.
- Open Source: My new blog is Open Source. You can always see the current deployed website's code at https://github.com/br4yd/blog and you can even fix a typo I make and create a pull request then. 🥴 The blog itself is also licensed under MIT (the code) and CC BY 4.0 (the content). So you can reuse my blog posts for your own projects, while respecting the license.
So what will be on braydmedia.de in the future?
I will create a meta website for my projects here in a few weeks. So this URL will be used to log the moderation steps taken on Braydmedia Glitch, create an overview about the services and so on. This will serve the purpose of this domain better.
I hope you'll follow my journey and my new blog. If you don't use an RSS reader you can also follow me on any of my linked social media pages on my new blog at https://brayd.blog. I will announce new blog posts there, too!
